Create Budget Documents

Budget In Brief provides a GUI interface and command line tool to generate Budget Documents.

 
Budget In Brief GUI Application 

 

Follow the below steps to generate budget document with Budget In Brief application:
  • Step 1: Launch the Budget In Brief application. 
  • Step 2: Enter "Budget Project Folder" location. It is the required parameter. 
  • Step 3: Select Budget Book file. It is the required parameter.
  • Step 4: Enter Output folder. This is optional parameter, by default the document will be created in a Draft folder located under specified project folder.
  • Step 5: Specify Output file Name. If not specified, then the application will use the document name that was specified in budget.book document "Name" attribute <Book Name="Operational Budget">If output folder already has a file with the provided name Budget In Brief application will create a backup of the old file.
  • Step 6: Specify output file format. Default format is Microsoft Word 2007 DOCX.
  • Step 7: Click Create Document Button.
  • Step 8: Check Output folder for newly generated file.
  • Step 9: You are done!
 
Budget In Brief Command Line Tool 
Follow the steps below to generate budget document with the Budget In Brief console application:
  • Step 1: Navigate to the Budget In Brief console application.
  • Step 2: Specify following required parameters:
    • The project folder;
    • A full path (or absolute path) that points to the budget book file;
  • Step 3: Specify following optional parameters. Wrap parameter values into double quotation marks to handle the spaces appropriately:
    • "/outputfolder" - the budget document output folder. If a value is not supplied, then document will be created in a Draft folder located under a specified project folder;
    • "/outputfile" - the budget document file name. If not specified then the application will use the document name that was specified in budget.book document "Name" attribute:<Book Name="Operational Budget">If output folder already has a file, with the provided name, Budget In Brief application will create a backup of the old file;
    • "/outputformat" - specifies the budget document output file format, PDF or DOCX (Default format MS Word 2007 DOCX).
  • Step 4: Execute command line. 
  • Step 5: Check Output folder for newly generated file.
  • Step 6: You are done!
